This is my first official newsletter. I’ll be using this as a monthly summary of what I’ve done, what you may have missed, and what I’m working towards.

MotB Progress

First couple weeks of March I spent as downtime as I’d just finished chapter 15 the previous month. In the last two weeks I penciled all the pages for chapter 16 and have just begun inks. It feels strange and a little scary to be getting so close to the end but I’m finally getting to draw scenes I’ve been chomping at the bit for for years. Chapter 12 just finished coming out publicly so updates will resume April 27th. We’re trucking along at a good pace with the comic! I’ve still got a generous backlog of pages and what needs to be done is slowly whittling down.

Exclusive work

In February I completed the next set in the tarot card series. I did the Two of Swords and Seven of Cups for Inge. I let readers vote on which got to be public and Two of Swords won. You can see it on the extras page on the webcomic website next to The Emperor! Next up will be Ada’s art.

Mail Club Goal

I’m still working to the goal for the quarterly mail club. To rehash that I’m working on growing my subscriber base and an incentive for that is once I reach 25 members on patreon and ko-fi combined I’ll start a quarterly mail club for supporters. This will include stickers and mini zines, perhaps some mini prints. I like giving people physical art and it would give me a reason to go do more riso printing which I love. Currently I have 5/25 members needed to start.

Reed Zine Fest

It’s been over a year since I had a tabling opportunity and this was my first one at a dedicated event for zines and comics. Hello to anyone that signed up for the mailing list there! For my first zine fest I’d say it was a success and I had a lot of fun with it. I should get up and stretch more often when I table though, I forgot how much sitting for 6 hours can just thrash my body. I also absolutely over prepared but now I’ve got a bunch of zines already printed and folded for the next event… speaking of:

I got accepted for Summer Story Fest in June so I’ll be gearing up for that now! I might get some of my longer zines printed, I think it’d be cool to have some physical copies of Sensory. But what I’ve learned is people like the silly micro zines like Types of Birds You May See, so maybe I should include more lighthearted work. Horror can be hard to sell but I love making weird, disconcerting art.

Other Work

This has been a rest focused month as I’ve been dealing with some hand pain and fatigue. I got a few art pieces done between resting and preparing for RZF. I finished the last of the classical gothic novel covers I was doing, it was for Rebecca and I’m proud of how it turned out. I also posted a single page watercolor comic themed around shed skins. It deviates from the abstract watercolor comics I was doing in fall 2025 with more literal imagery but it’s in a similar style as those.

Beyond Art

As stated this month was largely for recuperating or trying to recuperate, it did get awfully busy toward the end but I’m forcing myself back into a better work-life balance. I’ve been playing more video games again on the weekend, particularly Dredge and Baba is You (which does break my brain). I also read a book called Origin of Desire in Orchid Fens by Lynn Hutchinson Lee which was different stylistically to some other books I’ve read lately, I found it captivating and refreshing for that.

While I’ll be fully back on The Grind of MotB in April it should be a less chaotic month over all. That’s all for now!
